Game 1: Steal the Socks

  1. With your shoes off, also take your socks off halfway so the lower part of the socks is dangling and loose on children's feet.
  2. We now play tag with everyone trying to step onto each other's socks, only the loose part that is in front.
  3. Remind children to be careful not to step on each other's feet but rather onto their socks. Ideally, play it in a confined area so children can't just run away and avoid getting tagged.

Tips

  1. The game works best with long socks that can leave a big part on the floor.
  2. So if you can get some large used socks ready for children who don’t have big enough socks, even better.
  3. The part of the socks that is loose on the floor and off your feet should be long enough for children to be able to easily step onto them without stepping on other children’s feet.

  4. Make sure not to eliminate any child ever. If they lose their second sock, they can put on the socks again and start their second round of trying to keep their socks and so on.

  5. The playing field for this game should be fairly small for children to constantly move left and right, avoiding losing their socks. If the playing field is too large, half the children will just run away and wait around on the edges of the playing field.

Goals

Main focus: Reaction
In addition: Orientation like in all tag games. Physical activity, speed, endurance, as well as balance, are required when running around in socks.

Progressions

  1. The greater the number of children participating,
  2. The smaller the playing field or
  3. The shorter the socks, the more you increase the challenge.
